Yamagiri Dojo
山霧道場
This was the name given to our dojo (place of training) by Shihan Mark Bramble.
It translates to mountain fog. Mountain fog is made up of two of the five elements, Earth and Water. The mountain is immovable and the fog flows freely in and out of the mountains.
We desire to be stable and immovable when facing challenges but are able to adjust and flow around obstacles in our path. We use this same method in our teaching methods. We provide a stable base that can be built upon and then adapted as necessity requires.
Sensei Josh has had a strong base in Earth through his training and has started exploring the advantages of Sui or Water through his techniques.
Please feel free to ask about the Godai (five elements) during training to learn about the emotions tied to execution of techniques.
